Speakers Broken

Help!!! My mic wasn't working and when I plugged my speakers back in they didin't work. I restarted my computer with a windows update installed (service pack 1) I don't want to system restore.

Hwo about a little more info. Like operating system, motherboard, sound card, etc.

Do you have the speakers plugged into the correct port?

Is your equipment muted, either in windows OR on the device itself?
