i think you would get 5.1 sound cos on my setup i only have that cable and sound comes out of all the speakers

you will still get sound from all the speakers, but it will not be actual surround sound....it will only be in analog stereo...i think the signal has to be digital... like with a component connection, digital audio, or HDMI to get true 5.1 surround sound.
