Many a problem has been solved by wiggling a cable!
I've botched up jobs before without soldering, by winding the cables tightly round each other, giving it a light coating of vaseline (to insulate it), and covering it with heatshrink tubing, but it's just as easy to use a soldering iron to be honest, it's honestly not a huge complicated job!
