XP or Vista?

Vista 32 bit still will not use more than 3.5GB with SP1. It will show all the installed memory though.

depends what you use the computer for/what apps you have running at once. remember xp only needs 64mb ram to run. 2gb is 2000mb.

You will se a nice improvement in Vista, unnoticable in XP however.

32 bit operating systems recognize up to 3.25gb of ram.
64 bit operating systems recognize unbelievable amounts of ram. Can't remember the exact amount but it's HUGE.

If you have vista it's most likely 64 bit. So in that case buy as much ram as you want to.

there is a nice performance increase from 2gb-4gb in vista, even with x32.
