I have windows XP on a dell dimension 3000. I was turning off some of the processes to weed out ones I didn't need. I am not sure how I did it, but turned off process smaxpnp.exe or what ever it was.
Now I have uninstalled the soundmax driver, restarted the computer, the computer found the device, I enabled it and it says that it is enabled but it has not started yet. How do I start the device? What would the software cd say on it from the manufacturer? I don't have anything that says soundmax or audio device on it in the box.
If I go to control panel/sounds and audio devices, it says that there is no device. I have downloaded the upgrade and installed for the soundmax software directly from the dell website and nothing has changed.
I have tried all of this multiple times and scoured the internet for answers. I am driving myself crazy! It really can't be this hard, can it?
If there is something I am missing let me know please, I will be extremely grateful!!!
