Sound Card latency settings

Hey guys,

If my onboard sound card had line-in latency settings, where would I be able to adjust them? In BIOS? I'm still going to look for the latest drivers anyway, but I just wondered if latency settings for the line-in input are sometimes located in BIOS or are only located in driver software.
