Default sound card

i have a 780i and ive been wounder why i dont get 5.1 in my games apps and movies and apparently its because the intergreated sound card cant code music only pass along already coded music (reason why windows only recognizes 2 speakers)
so whats a good sound card with optical audio

They'll both work out for you. It all depends on how much you're willing to spend on a sound card.

I'll do some research when I get home, but that card is actually a rip off IIRC, it's basically a Soundblaster Audigy SE with updated drivers (same chip), a scam by Creative to get people to buy an Audigy for more $$ just by changing the name and branding it "X-Fi", the Audigy is only $30...

I'll double check, but if it's the card I'm thinking of, anyone thinking of getting it should just get the Audigy and search for the modded drivers, I think I even have the drivers bookmarked on my home PC if anyone needs the link...

looks just like an Audigy too, except they have an "X-Fi" sticker on the chip...
