Default Sony Vegas

Would downloading a codec pack such as the K-lite codec pack help my problem with importing mpeg-2 video files with 2-ch AC-3 audio? The video imports just fine, but the audio doesn't. This is video from my Canon FS100 digial camcorder.

Another thing, how come it works just fine in free windows movie maker, but it doesn't in pay programs like Vegas and Adobe Premier, which I have and it doesn't work.

When all else fails...Ham Radio!

I still have the same old HP DV9700T laptop I've had for years...still kickin'
