Default something wrong with my pc

Worked fine when I came home from school. Went shopping and came back with BF2. Installed it and noticed some problems with the account stuff. Then I downloaded the patch from gamershell.com
Then I tried to install it and the installation froze. Well I tried to restart my pc and all of the programs gave "this program is not responding" etc. So I had to close my pc down by holding the start button.
Well then I start my computer again and the bar wit the start button is gone. It's there when I boot windows, but then it disappears.

My primary objective is to get the start bar back, and also help on how to get BF2 working (the patch mainly) would be nice too.

So can someone help me?

kicked the butt out of the start bar problem. Go me!

Now I'll just have to get that BF2 patch working.

edit:
got it working, atleast somehow. I can't believe that it was so weird. Had to download the patch 2 times. Had to install it about 5 times. Had to reinstall the game too.

But now it works well enough.
