software-related hardware question.

When you power on the computer can you press F10 or F12 to get to a boot menu?

If the laptop under warranty means vendor should assist you. You just call the customer support for assistance.

Shouldn't matter if it's a laptop, one of the F buttons will get you into the boot menu. Most of the time it's F12 but it could be F10 (as Infection said) or any other of them.

When you removed the CMOS battery, you also made sure that the main battery and the AC adapter were unplugged, right?

Leave the battery out overnight, with absolutely nothing connected to it. If it still doesn't work, that link on how to reset CMOS password is your best bet.

Cheers for all the help guys, I think I've found out everything I need.
If I do fix it at some point, I'll come back and thank you again.
