Default so my friend got a p4 (or athlon 64, not sure) that wont boot from anything

my friend bought a p4 or athlon 64 (didnt check because didnt boot, but we can tell from the size of teh heatsink) from a garage sale for 10 bucks. when he tries to boot up from windows cd (even when bios is set to boot from CD first), it says "error, boot error, please insert system disk and press enter". im going over there tomorow to have a look at it, maybe upgrade it a bit, u know.

So what should i do to it to make it work??

Have you cleared the CMOS? You never know... it might just work.
