the problem is that my 1 80 gig hd is in smart even, my computer works fine, it just says it. i think it has something to do with my bios?

SMART is a data protection utility that most current hard drives use. If a hard drive has SMART, that's good.

yeah i think it like warns you if it is overheating, or if something is wrong, also how do you keep that overclocked processor cool?

I've moved this into the General Computer Hardware and Software section.

yeah, SMART can be a good thing. I always thought it slowed the hard drive down so didn't turn it on, but now I know that isn't true, I might just do it.

Plus, even if it did slow it down, I guess knowing when your hard drive is likely to fail is a good thing :p Otherwise, you won't have a hard drive to slow down at all...

SMART does not lower PC performance. Please make sure you know about a topic before you post.....

It is well mentioned in my mobo's manual...SMART lowers performance...as it monitors

Hmmm.... I can't find any evidence at the moment, so I apologize for the remark. I still don't think it lowers performance though, so if you could find some reliable reference, link it! Otherwise, yeah, I'm pretty sure it doesn't.
