Thumbs down Slow computer

My friends computer been running slow(Starting up any application, loading web pages, general lag.) So i decide to do a little cleaning. I Installed AVG, Spy Bot, Ad-ware, CCleaner, and Defraggler. After i installed those ran them the computer still seem to run slow maybe even slower. My next step is to install more RAM, But wanted to check with you guy first.

Here are the specs

1 gb of ram with Vista? Yeah it's going to be slow, the processor isn't all that fast either.

Has it been slow right out of the box?

Memory 1GB PC2-4200 DDR2

That's what the specs say so...I'm not sure if his computer can handle faster RAM, so let's say it doesn't.

Opps, ok here's something:

Memory
Memory Capacity 1GB DDR2
Memory Speed DDR2 533
Form Factor DIMM 240-pin
Memory Spec 512MB x 2
Memory Slots (Available/Total) 2/4
Maximum Memory Supported 4GB

Ok, you could do this. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820141241

Will speed up his computer a lot. He needs to take out all his RAM, and just add those 2 sticks.

Think Tommy Boy hit the nail on the head.

1GB or RAM with Vista just isn't practical.
