Sup, I am a newcomer on the forums, my english or grammar is not entirely perfect but I do need some help with my computer.

Problem: Its been running really slow.

Tried:
1. Norton 360
2. Registry Cleaners - A DOZEN of them, Last one was CCleaner
3. Yahoo Anti Spyware
4. Removing alot useless programs/toolbars.

OS/Window: Mircosoft Windows XP professional
Computer Type: Laptop
Memory: 512
GHz: 1.6

Thx for the help.

Yea. I check for spyware.

Still 512 might not be great, but it used to run faster.

Try Spybot and Ad-aware. (majorgeeks website)

If your using Norton or Mcafee. Remove it and put AVG antivirus on instead as it's much lighter on system resources.

Try also disabling some startup programs. You may have accumulated a bunch of useless programs that run on startup.

Use ALL of the following I provide:

http://filehippo.com/download_spybot_search_destroy/

http://filehippo.com/download_ad-aware/

http://filehippo.com/download_antivir/

Start > accessories > system tools > Disk defrag

And if you want to pay, or know how to get this by "other means"

I would suggest CCleaner, but you have already used it.

Thx alot, I been getting the ugre to thorw my computer out the window, because all the "free" programs that I keep getting are trails. And the "other means" method involves risking my computer into more chaos.

CCleaner delete a few of my main registry keys, the laptop power program gets error and startup is even worse.

Spyware detected nothing.

Anti Virus programs detected nothing.

Defrag takes ages.

I guess my last resort is formating. =[

I would probably take longer to get your hdd back up and running after reformatting than if you just run the defrag.

I doubt its a spyware issue, but for the best anti-spyware program get Spyware Doctor. By far the most powerful one that I've used. You might wanna try that before you wipe out your hdd.
