Default SLI Question

Hey this motherboard here (http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16813131232) has SLI but when you have the SLI going it makes the PCI-E slots x8,x8

Doesn't that mean that one PCI-E 2.0 x16 card will do the exact same as 2 PCI-E 2.0 with the x8 in SLI?

Thanks for the replies!

Sorta. If the card doesn't utilize all of the x16, then 2 will be a performance increase.

Not really... Since AFAIK, no card utilizes ALL of the speed of a 16x slot.

Exactly, if they did, then they would be bottlenecked by the slot, and have no reason to be that fast since there isn't enough bandwidth. You should see a performance increase, just not the same as if it was SLI with 2 pci-e x16 slots.

It also depends on your resolution and the other components of your build. If a game can't utilize SLI, then you won't see any improvements.
