oh yea i have windows xp with 768 ram and an intel celeron processor that goes up to 2.70 ghz. i have a ati radeon 9700 pro and yea that's about it.. if anybody wanted to know.

Well, the jumper on the drive has to be set a certain way for it to be recognized as a slave drive. I imagine removing it completely is what caused Windows to not recognize it at all. There should be a diagram on the front of the drive showing which pins to put it on. If not, check the manual.
