Default Single VS. Dual core

Which is better: a 3.2 GHz single core Intel Pentium 4, or a 3.0 GHz dual core Pentium D? Which one do you think will be better 10 years down the road? And can you use a Pentium D dual core in any mobo that has a matching socket?

EDIT: Or would an operton be best?

Default Re: Single VS. Dual core

The dual core one looks good for now, but all that's going to change. Seems like CPUs are going to multi core soon. 10 years down the road, the technology will change so drastically, it will make what we have now museum quality.
*Fact: Microsoft Window's Blue Screen of Death vs Computerforums.org's White Screen of Death. Which is worse?
