Using external USB 3.0 drive for main data drive?
hi
i am just about to buy a lenovo y460 with a 750Gb 5400 rpm drive.
what i am thinking of doing is getting an 80Gb SSD for applications, OS
etc and getting a USB 3.0 enclosure and putting the 750Gb drive
in there, connect it to a USB 3.0 port and use that for the rest of my
data.
my question is about speed. obviously the SSD will be fast but will
the external drive for my data be fast enough? will i loose speed on
the 5400 rpm drive using it as an external HDD with USB3.0? i do alot of 3d and
video work.
could there be any potential problems doing this other than dropping the hard drive?
thanks in advance
