silent modem

im still on the rubbish 56k modem and im wondering if there is any way i can make it silent without buying a new modem

external modems sometimes have volume switches.
internal modem sometimes have jumpers to turn off the speaker.
You'll find a volume setting in the modem properties in the control pannel
failing all of the above
you can:
disconnect the speaker, there is no practical use for it except to tell you it's there...

or seal it in a box with some foam around it to damped the noise.

well its an internal modem and i checked the modem setting in control panel and there was no volume setting and the noise dosnt seem to come through the speakers ive tried turning the volume up and down but it didnt work
