Default Should i get more ram?

Do you think my pc would speed up a noticable amount by getting more RAM? I currently have 256MB and i downloaded this thing that says how much ram you are using and it was in steady in the 70-75% range while i was running no programs. Is that bad?

Having up 75% being used at idle isn't good. You should have at least 512MB. 1GB would be best for general gaming and applications.

I do suggest getting a little more RAM. You should add at least another 256MB stick in. You will probably notice a difference when you open some programs.

A gig of RAM can be had for $20 these days, and it would be the best upgrade you ever did. What kind of RAM does your computer take?

If you don't know what kind of RAM your PC takes, go to Crucial and run their memory scanner and see what your upgrade possibilities are. Some more RAM would definitely help your system. How about some specs?

Heres Crucial's memory scanner: http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/index.aspx

Here's a few options for you.

If you really want to be cheap, add another stick of 256. It's only $10:

If you want more, you have two options. Buy a 1GB (2x512MB) kit, which will perform faster with dual channel, or just throw in another 1GB stick:

what I'd do is get a 1gb kit, they are very cheap and definitely worth it. Apparently the mobo doesn't support dual channel but it doesn't matter too much, you will still notice a huge improvement.

More RAM will be the best thing you could do for that computer. Just do it and you will be very happy with the results.
