Im putting together my own pc, and i hear from my friends that partitioning and installing drivers and software is the biggest nuisance. i need some tips on partitioning and why it has to be done. My second concern is on installing the os. Im thinking bout installing the os that originally came with my laptop on to my new computer. should i do it or not?

Installing drivers is not really a hassle, the laptop OS cd, is it a official XP cd? Or is it like a certain company's system restore disk?

Installing drivers, software, OS, etc. isn't hard at all....

Well my laptop XP Pro CD only works for GAteway Laptops. I installed it on an hp desktop and it gave me 30 days

whoa how can a disc know what kinda system its on? i didnt know companies did that
