Looking to buy a processor (intel) but cannot decide I should buy a processor with greater l2 memory and no l3 or should i buy a processor with lesser l2 cache and greater l3 cache. The system is gonna be used as a server and main system and I would like the system to last a good while. My basic question is, how likely is the system to utilise l3 cache?

L3 in everyday use serves almost no purpose now if your gaming or doing some more demanding processes than that is a different story i would go L3 if its for a server personally

cool, thats what it will be. Also I would like to know how to match processor speed to motherboard speed? And how to match RAM to mobo speed please.
Actually if I have a l2 cache of about 2mb and no l3 cache compared to a l2 512kb cache and 4mb l3 cache, theoretically L3 cache would only be used if L2 cache filled up? So would it not be more sense to buy a much bigger l2 cache ? something around 2-3mb L2 cache? |
