Ok, so I want to use a PSU without plugging it into a mother board. I know I have to short out something, just not sure what.

It is a standard Atx connector, looks like this:

.

the green one and any black one on that connector ,
i was doing that today cos i was installing all my goods in a new case and i installed a standoff wrong and it was shorting ma mobo but i though my PSU was dead so what a better way to check

I was a bit scared when i first did it that i was gonna get zapped but you cant get zapped so hey everyone is happy , unless your PSU is broke ,

I am using it to power a couple of LED fans, and I am going to hang them up on a wall. It will be awesome, I am going to post pics later.

I have a project in mind involving a set of cold cathodes , i am gonna mount them on my monitor , i can get cheap sets at £2.99 a set and an old 145w psu happy days , might even do some led fans like you

Or even better mount some sound activated Cold cathodes to my speakers

yeah you have to connect 2 wires together on it right?? I did it before, and hooked that up to a car amp and car subs. it sounded nice!
