Well, hardware-wise (for the moment), at least.
Yes, after a full week of questions, concerns and slow-assembly, I have finished putting my new machine together. I've also gathered various cuts and scratches, but that's not important. I plugged in the final cable about half an hour ago, then plugged the shiny new computer in to test and...POSTed first time.
Overall, I'm quite happy with the specs. I know they could be better, but I'm not yet at the level where I can afford or want to buy the really high-spec machines. Nevertheless, here's what we have:
AMD Phenom 9950 CPU
Gigabyte MA790FX-DS5 Motherboard
OCZ Performance Gold PC2-6400 RAM
Samsung 500GB HDD
Sony DRU-190S DVD-RW
Sony Floppy Drive
Sapphire HD4870
Hiper Type R 530w PSU
Gigabyte Isolo 210 Case
I do intend to add in a second DVD-RW and HDD at a later date, but other than that, I'm finished. Here are a couple of pictures of the internals (two half-way through and one when it was finished). Ignore the slightly messy cables - I've devised a way of hiding them further, but this case doesn't offer much in terms of cable management, because you can't tuck cables down behind the motherboard tray (it's joined to the case's frame at the top, so the only space you can hide cables, really, is down the side of the external 3.5" cage).

I can't wait to take it home and get on with using it. What do you think?
