My cherished P4 rig has finally bsod'd its way to the point of no return. Was merrily playing Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines, and I start getting one of those freezes where the audio will loop the same half second over and over. No response from ctrl+alt+del or alt+tab, so i hammer my power button. No response from that either.... I let it sit for about an hour and it was still doing this, so I held power button to cut power. Starting up gets me a 'start windows normally, last known good config, safe mode, etc' screen and then a bsod no matter what option I choose. Already removed all peripherals and tried booting with integrated graphics. Still the same story.

tl;dr, cut power and bsod

I'm thinking just build a new rig and salvage what I can off the hard drive.

Anything else I can try to fix the blue screen?

Reset the cmos and try to boot again. That will sometimes fix the type of problem you are having. Also try removing one stick of ram at a time if you have more than one. Could have a stick that went bad. Good Luck!!

Garr. my weak thumbs can't pry loose the battery and I don't wanna use a screwdriver to jam it out.

Well I reset the cmos and booted up again... same thing.
reseated ram, vid card, tried integrated, etc...still bsod.
