hey guys
my quad core should be coming 2 morrow and with ll this extra cpu power
i was thinking of setting all the computers in my house up like a server system like the ones i use at school
someone give me an idea on how 2 do this?
also do i need 2003 windows server or will vista/xp be fine
cuz if i need it im sure i could acquire one

you will need server 03, or any other other server os.
its pretty simple do to the basics. im just working on setting up restrictions and stuff on mine, thats where im struggling

ya i just want my family to be able to sign on any computer in the house and access there files you know but a detailed instructions would be appreciated
and if any one knows if i could just use xp or vista with some sort of soft where thats would be 100 times better

That sounds like a great idea!

Anyone have a full guide on how to do it.

Esa193 and I are both interested :)

sounds like a great idea huh comp man
laptop desktop w/e just log on theres your files

steal server 03,
install it,
run the basic wizard which will come up first of all, add a domain controller, then thats it.
after that its a case of setting up the restrictions, etc (dj chris time)

lol oh ya i forgot dj chris does all that
haha ya hes great to ask about all that stuff
and im not "steeling it", im just borrowing it

also what would be the best version to borrow?
also is there any way to set up your own domain so you dont have to pay for .com ulr addresses
