Is it possible to ad something to a media file that will stop it from working after a certain amount of time. (I don't want a dvd that self destructs). Maybe a script that works with the file and upon downloading, the file activates and only remains active for 5 days. And perhaps a seperate activation for burning the file, that only allows it to play for two days.

Everything would be legal and set up throught the film companies.

Any info would be great! Thank you.

What you starting, like online film rental or something???

...Hey, that'd be a neat idea *patented* Hehe.

yeah, I've seen something like this for music cd's. if you want to copy it you have to install this burning program that comes with it to burn it and copy it to your computer if you want. it adds something to the registry to tell the computer that it has been copied 3 times or whatever. that doesn't stop you from going to someone elses computer and copying it 3 more times though.
but yeah, I don't know how you can add it to a media file yourself though.
