Default Searching within TIFF files

I've been searching the web for a while and have been unable to find a solution to my problem and I always seem to find answers here, so here goes...

I have a cd full of tiff files which are autocad drawings. I need to be able to search the files for certain words or numbers. From my reading I understand there a different parts of tiff's where text searching is or isnt included. I did not make the files therefore I dont know if I have text searchable tiffs or not. If I convert the tiff to pdf via print to primopdf the quality is so low the search option cannot find any words.

Any help?!?!? Thanks for reading!
