Seagate 1.5TB external problem

Hello!

I seem to be having trouble with my external HDD.

It doesn't power up. No matter how many times I've removed the power and usb and reconnected. No power and isn't detected by computer. I've went through the Seagate troubleshooting but still nothing.

I decided to remove the HDD from the casing and hook it up manually via SATA into my desktop PC. After I connected the SATA data and power to the HDD, I pushed the power button on the computer. Nothing happened. The computer didn't start, no fans moved, nothing at all, just a stand still. When I disconnect the seagate again, the computer powers up. So what gives?

This process was tried on 3 other computers but still nothing.

Any help will be appreciated. The files on the HDD are important and I don't have enough $ to go through a data recovery store :(

What is the model of the external drive?

What is the model of the hard disk from the external drive?

With the model numbers, members can look up the hardware manuals. That would be the best place to start.

1) The External is: Seagate FreeAgent Desk 1500GB

2) Model of HD from the external: Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 1.5TB Hard Disk

Does it have the data transfer limit jumper installed? If not try installing the jumper.
