Scanner Sharing

Is it possible to share my scanner over my network? I'm looking for something free.

well i imagine the scanning software is installed on the network computers. so you could just try scanning remotely.

Hmm....I don't see how sharing a scanner over a network would do any good since you actually have to go to the scanner to insert the material to be scanned, and use the scanner.

I would just use the pc that the scanner is connected to, scan whatever it is you want, save it on the desktop and then move it to the shared folder so that you can access it on the other pc.

hmm well at our school we have a shared scanner in the IT suite and i think they have special hardware to share it , like a print server for scanners but i wouldn know if you would need this for home use ?

EDIT:just do a quick google serach for something like "sharing a scanner over a lan" or something like that

It seems that it's possible, but it would cost me money.
