hi guys, i dont know if this has been answered before or not. how can i scan something, say somthing from a book, and then open it up in word? do i need a special program? thnx in advance

EDIT:i now know that i need a OCR program, any recomendations on a free one?

With my experiance a scanner(pretty sure you need) comes with it's own software where you can save it to your computer. Then I guess you can open it with a program like word.

Dude get Abby Fine reader, program is great, I used it before...It highlights the words that it didnt pick up perfectly just incase, so you can just make sure...Preety good program!

ok, thnx guys. my printer/scanner is an HP. i dont think it came with any software to do that kind of stuff.

yea, ino, some cost a couple hundred. im just gonna go for a basic freebie program.
