i have a cd ReWrite already installed in my comp from when i bought it but i don't have a program with it. I reinstalled all of my software many time after so whatever came with the comp i don't have in it anymore. O and i would also like to start copying my vhs tapes over to DVD so could anyone recommend a good DVD recorder that doesn't install in the comp? thanks

If you just wanna save the pics to a cd as data (so u can transfer them to another PC) then just use Nero 6, you can download the trial version here- http://www.nero.com/en/nero-prog.php

If you want to save them to a disc, so u can watch them on a dvd player, as a "video" format then this software will help - http://www.photodex.com/products/proshowgold/

If you have xp you can burn from it just by inserting a blank cd into the burner. Then drag your picture files into the burner folder after opening it.
