Default Saving to Different Image Types

Recently, I have done something so that every time I try to save an image from a webpage it uses bitmap as the default image type. XP won't allow me to switch types during the file save and converting each file isn't very practical.

Is there somewhere I can go to change the default image type back to JPG?

Bitmap works, but it takes up much more space than jpg. And I can convert my files with Irfan View, but it takes a lot of time to organize after the conversion.

I would like it, when I right click on an image and click "save picture as", to automatically use .jpg for the "save as type:".
