Default Sata Question

I was reading mike meyers's A+ certification book and he said that SATA is hot swopably but when i have my computer on and then plug in a SATA hard drive it dont show up. What could be the cause for it not showing up?

Windows doesn't actively search for new SATA devices. You'd need to go into disk management and have it scan for new hardware. Then assuming the drive is formatted it should show up.

ok oh, it wasnt formated at that time, so i rebooted windows and now im in the process of formating it. Thanks for the reply!!
