Default SATA and Parallel ATA

Can a hard drive be both SATA and Parallel ATA compatible? Or is it one or the other.

k thanks. I bought a hard drive from ebay that clearly stated that it was SATA interface, but when it arrived, the box said it was parallel interface. I have not opened the box yet. Can someone say fraud?

doesnt this clearly state its SATA?

Hmmm, the title says SATA, the pictures shows IDE, and the description claims both! That drive model comes in both SATA and IDE flavors, but they are not interchangeable, so if you got an IDE drive, you're stuck with it and should file a complaint as the auction clearly claims SATA compatibility:

Yeah, PayPal will do an investigation, and it can take awhile, but they seem to be fair. I bought a copy of Metroid Prime for GameCube from someone who said it was the original game, but when I got it, it was a promotional copy that came bundled with a wireless controller. I filed a complaint and PayPal 'ruled' in my favor. I just had to file another complaint for a movie poster that was claimed original but was in fact a reprint. Just use that link I gave you above to start a 'item significantly not as described' dispute. Like I said, it will take some time - at least two or three weeks, but for this situation, I don't have much doubt that PayPal will refund your money.
