I just purchased a Seagate 120gb SATA 3gb/s hard drive and hooked it up to my PC. It recognized the device, but the device is not visible under 'My Computer' so I don't know if it is actually functioning. I am using an Asus A8N-SLI motherboard with an AMD 3700+. Windows XP SP1 is running off my other 80gb Seagate ATA133 hard drive, which functions fine. Does anyone know why the SATA drive is not being displayed?

okay Try this

Right click on my computer
Select manage
click on disk managment
Select the drive that you want and then
Hit Change drive letters and paths and give it a drive letter

Check the jumper cables. Make sure everything is secure, and nothing is loose. Check the master/slave drive positions are correct.

There are no jumpers on SATA drives.

@OP, can you see the drive in Computer management? My guess is the drive has yet to be initialised and formatted, until this is done it will not show up in My Computer.

Right click on my computer
Select manage
click on disk managment
Right click on the drive and initialise.
