Could i run my computer with solely an external HD instead of a internal HD?

if your bios supports it, and if the external drive supports it, then yes

yes it is possible, like dude said, your bios must support boot from external devices (i.e. usb, firewire lan etc.) it wont be as fast as an internal hd obviously, but it is possible

If it's an eSATA drive it would be just as fast.
