Default router help

I just got a Belcan Router and I will be getting a Netbook soon.

I just have one thing I want to know?

How do I setup my Netbook to just be the only computer to acsses the Router?

What I meen is I know all Routers have Firmware in them so I would connect my Netbook to my Wireless Belcan Router so I can make the connection I get this.

But would I then go into My Network Places on my Netbook to set up or ho does this work??

The exact process is a bit different for every brand of router, but you'll want to enable some sort of encryption...you should have the option of WEP and WPA.

On the netbook, do you have XP or 7?
