Well the speedbooster makes your connection go faster, you have to have an adapter that supports speedbooster as well to take advantage of it though. That will handle sharing your connection without crashing.

Just about any broadcom based adapter supports speedbooster, no matter if it's linksys branded or not.

The router I recomend for an 802.11G wireless router is the Linksys WRT54GL. It's their "linux" version of the router, which runs a more stable OS compared to the new vxworks based operating system in their WRT54G / WRT54GS.

However, it's $10 more expensive than the WRT54G due to the fact that it has better hardware compared to the newer ones.
