I have a Dell XPS 400 that previously had XP home on it. Stupidly, I upgraded it to a Vista trial and did not realize it. Now, The trial has expired and I am trying to restore it back to XP. I already backed up the windows.old files to a portable hard drive. When I try to restore it back, It asks for the Administrator password, but every time I put it in it says it is incorrect. I even opened the secret one in Vista and still it is not working. I really don't care if I lose anything, this pc just had a whole new hard drive installed after a virus wiped most of it out. Also, it does not have internet on it, so I can't download anything.

There's a way to get around that, but you'll have to download the file to a flash drive or something to restore the file permissions.
