Hi, if i go into system properties, if i turned protection to OFF on my C drive and turned it ON on my D drive, would the system (windows on C) be saved to the D drive aswel as the stuff on D, or would only the stuff on the D drive be saved.

Im asking this because i dont want stuff contantly writing to my ssd, which is the C drive, so i want the system restore protection to be saved on my D drive.

?

If you're using Windows 7, there's already built in protections against using the SSD for too much. System Protection doesn't write the directories in the manner in which you are assuming, it's NOT a backup method.

System Protection is just for system restore points, and if you disable C drive, then any changes you make to the OS or the programs on that drive will be UNPROTECTED.

I have an SSD in this system, it's only a 40GB and it handles things just fine.

Ok, but what about if i disable C drive, but enable D drive? I have programs on both the C drive and D drive. Would my windows be protected (the ability to do system restores) by only having D protection turned on?
