Default replacing an processor

i just bought an Intel Pentium Processor to replace my Intel Celeron D, and i was wondering if theres a safe way to put it on without bending any of the pins? and will i have to get a new heatsink with a cooler? or can i just re-use my old one?

you wont need a new cooler. Are you sure the new processor will fit??? and which processor did you buy?

What socket? If its LGA775, then the pins are on the motherboard itself. So its just a pull out and drop in process. You can also reuse your heatsink and fan.

the chipset has nothing to do with the processor (well not really anyway). its the motherboard....

at any rate the p4 will have more muscle behind it. most new proc's come with a heat-sink and fan of their own, so you shouldnt need to buy a new one.
