replacing motherboard

If I replace my motherboard with the same one, I wont have to install new XP or anything, will I? Theres a problem with my motherboard and it is getting replaced for free, but I just want to make sure nothing on my hard drive will be lost, or have to be lost after I remove the motherboard.

I believe what you want to do is uninstall your IDE controllers and then replace the motherboard. Lhuser knows.

if the new board is exactly the same as the old one you're good to go, just reassemble everything.
