Default 'remote desktop connection' is wierd...

okay, from my dad's laptop (xp home) i can connect to my desktop (xp mce), but from my desktop (xp mce), i can't connect to the laptop. whats happening.

MCE doesn't provide good networking options. network connections are based on the system you are connecting from. XP Home allow basic network connections but MCE doesn't.

well thats stupid. mce should be better tham home. doesn't mce have some pro features too. that sucks. so is there any way i can connect the laptop with out some kind of third-party app?

Yes use logmein.com

It's far superior in many ways, and in your application it will be superior.

Also make sure you have remote desktop enabled on the one you cannot connect to. just because you can make an outgoing connection doesnt exactly mean you can make an incoming. also check firewall settings.
