Remote connection to router???

First you need to know the WAN IP of your router,THIS will tell you.

Now simply enter this adress into any web browser,type in the login info,and you are now interfaced with your router,now all you have to do is find the reboot option.

I've tried that and unfortunately it didn't work I guess that if the ADSL is over there is down, i cannot connect using https or http. Any other suggestions guys??? Something like a command line in CMD or some bloody utility.....

Well the thing is that the cctv setup is actually the port forwarding on the router itself. I've done it long ago, bloody google is also hopeless, i've been looking around in manuals and pdfs, always in vain.....looks like either nobody knows how to do it, or there is just no such way...I presume i'll have to do the mileage after all!!! F@^*ing hell!!! excuse my language - its just that the fuel prices are going up big time....

Have you had a word with thompson themselves? They tend to be a bit dense, but they may be able to help

If it's a good router you can have dial backup on it, and be able to telnet / ssh / whatever in on the alternative IP. Easy to do with a cisco. Or have a (serial) terminal server connected to the COM port of the router, you can use telnet / ssh / hyper terminal to connect to the router regardless of an internet connection (assuming the terminal server is setup with 56K or something) What you want is called out of band management, and is a feature on decent business routers.

EDIT: Get back to me if it has a COM or Dial backup port on the back of it, I doubt it though.

OK, My brother has a Thomson Speed-touch. You need to ENABLE the remote setup option before you can actually remotely access it. You will then need to specify a port, and access the web-based control panel through somthing like this:

http://<ipaddress>:<port>/
