The Logmein applications is very good. I use the Logmein Free version which gives remote control, the only problem may be is that the person with the virus will need to install a small download program to allow you to connect and control.

The other option is the Logmin Rescue two week trial which means that you create an account, send an email (or a pin code) to the person with the virus, which allows them access to the account you have created and allow you to connect.

Sound complicated but works very well. Rescue is better if the other person is not very computer literate.

You can also try http://www.showmypc.com/ It is free and allows you to quickly make a temporary connection over the phone by providing the code it generates.
