Reinstalling windows, without wiping the hard drive

Whats the easiest and quickest way to backup everything on my C drive to an external one?

Plug in the external one and move the stuff to it.
And if it's a USB one then remember to plug it into a USB 2.0 port, if u don't then it's gonna go slow.

I do a full C: backup once a month, onto a NAS. Only 100GB but it does the trick, I reinstall windows about once a month.

You reinstall windows once a month??? Wow.......why do you install lots of different programs and stuff, which needs that?

Have you tried Norton Ghost? form what I can understand is that it back up youre ENTIR hardrive and every thing on it and then you could put it on youre external hardrive, and then like they said about you prob should just format youre whole c:/ drive or you could even try to repair it with youre xp cd
