Default reformating

I was wondering if i can reformat my computer but keep the OS. You see, my os was pre-loaded with my computer and all i have is this cd which says i can only use it for backup and recovery of my computer system.

Yea, i'm a newb, i need help. Also how can i backup other things such as songs and docments so i won't lose them during reformating.

-Thanks

no its not possible to format and keep your os, but you can just juse the recovery cds and they will reformat and reinstall your os with all the orginal programs

you can backup your stuff by putting them to a cd, or usb stick.
