Next year I will be taking a class that deeply involves Red Hat Linux. I'd like to get a new laptop and install Red Hat right off the bat. I suppose I have two questions.

1. Would any laptop do or would anyone recommend a certain manufacturer?

2. Should I keep Windows installed and install Red Hat or could I wipe the drive with something like D-Ban and do a fresh install?

you might want to keep the windows disk and drivers on hand if something goes wrong with a fresh install. if its for a class then wipe and if u want to keep any documents back them up if u want to reinstall windows again sometime in the future. depends on how new the red hat edition it is, put i don't like it ask the instructor if u can use ubuntu or fedora since both are similar in look/feel and functionality because when i used it a few years back it had run in to a lot of driver issues. u could imagine with all them parts from diff. manufactures.
