Default recovery discs

hey i am building a new system and my friend has a windows xp disc that came with his dell and i was wondering if it would work on my new system .... he used it to reformat a hp so would it work on my machine to install xp

The best way to find out it to try it. From what I read in magazines, there is only one registered user per licence; but in this forum I read you can lend your XP CD for another installation without a problem...which may work but when you will come to SP2 you may have problems.
